Canning Adventures

Okay. So I have this love/hate relationship with canning food.  I love that it’s so convenient on our busy farming days, the amazing taste, no yucky ingredients, and it makes me feel like a trophy wife. Well, when it’s all done anyhow.  I hate the mess, the amount of time, and effort it takes though. haha.  Anyhow this is my 2nd year attempting to can.  Things that I have canned are:

  • Applesauce
  • Peaches
  • Carrots
  • Potatoes
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Pickles (dill & bread and butter)
  • Sloppy Joe sauce
  • Vegetable soup
  • Pineapple
  • Clementine’s (Pinterest fail! Do not attempt)
  • Various jellies including watermelon
  • Sauerkraut (not sure how it will turn out but looks good =])
  • Spaghetti sauce

I have also dehydrated apples, broccoli, potatoes, and grapes.  I’m a bit of a worry wart so the thought of “emergency food” makes me feel a little at ease.  Not all of my “adventures” are pictured. Just some. Feel free to tell me your tips & tricks and about your own canning adventures!
